Enhance MPP Turbo ArmorGrit Review

Enhance MPP Turbo ArmorGrit pickleball paddle
88/100
Excellent

Consensus score

Do not overthink this one. The MPP Turbo was already the best sub-$120 foam paddle on our board: our original Turbo review scored it 89/100. The ArmorGrit version changes exactly one thing, the face. Same 16mm floating MPP foam core, same EVA perimeter ring, same internal weighting, same $119.99 price (and the same $20-off codes that bring it to $99.99). What is new is ArmorGrit, a durability coating over the peel-ply T700 carbon that Pickleball Effect measured at 92% grit retention with spin up about 100 RPM over the raw-carbon original. Same Turbo, new armor.

The consensus verdict

Best for

Anyone who was going to buy the original MPP Turbo: buy this instead. Value-first players who want foam-core power, big spin, and a face that keeps its bite.

Not for

Players who want a stiff, crisp hit. This is soft and hollow, same as the original. And collectors of the raw-carbon face: it is gone from the lineup.

Consensus 88/100 · Excellent

Weighted from Pickleball Effect lab reviews of all three shapes (4.3/5 each, spin 2,096 to 2,130 RPM), The Kitchen video review, Pickld Australia, PlaybookPaddles 4.8/5, and Enhance owner reviews at 4.87/5. One point under the original Turbo: PE flagged uneven ArmorGrit wear across paddles owned by other players, the only blemish on an otherwise clean sheet.

What reviewers agree on

Strengths

  • The face is the upgrade. ArmorGrit kept 92% of its texture in PE abrasion testing (Tier 2) and measured about 100 RPM more spin than the raw-carbon original. The coating protects the peel-ply texture underneath and adds bite of its own. Enhance says the formula came from aerospace. It has electrolytes.
  • Everything else is untouched. Same core, same feel, same price. If you liked the Turbo, this is the Turbo. The Kitchen calls it the same powerful MPP foam core with a brand-new grit surface, no price increase.
  • Absurd value, again. $99.99 with a code for a thermoformed foam paddle with 2,100+ RPM spin. The Kitchen kept the Turbo line at No. 1 on its best-under-$150 list for a reason.
  • Big, stable sweet spot. Twist weights from 6.6 to 7.17 across the shapes. The widebody is near the top of what labs have measured for forgiveness.

Weaknesses & caveats

  • ArmorGrit consistency is the open question. PE docked its rating because ArmorGrit wear was uneven on other players paddles: some held up fine, some did not. Tier 2 on the lab unit, real-world variance beyond it.
  • Soft and hollow is a preference. Stiff-foam players will find it muted. Same caveat as the original, because it is the same paddle.
  • Do not pay twice for the same paddle. If you already own the original Turbo and the face is fine, this is a sidegrade, not an upgrade.
  • Young brand, short track record. Same caveat as the original. Enhance does not have the multi-year durability history of the legacy brands.

ArmorGrit FAQs

ArmorGrit or the original MPP Turbo?

ArmorGrit. Same paddle, same $119.99, better face. The original only wins if you find it cheaper on clearance.

Which shape should I buy?

Hybrid for most players: the hardest-hitting shape in the line with balanced hands at a 111 swing weight. Elongated for singles reach. Widebody for the biggest sweet spot and fastest hands.

How long does the ArmorGrit face last?

Pickleball Effect measured 92% texture retention, Tier 2 durability. Meaningfully better than raw carbon. But the lab also saw uneven wear on other players paddles, so treat long-term durability as promising, not proven.
