How to run a pickleball round robin

  1. Add your players — anywhere from 4 to 30 names.
  2. Choose a partner format — fixed partners for competitive brackets, switch partners for social mixers.
  3. Set your rounds — five to seven rounds is the sweet spot for most open-play sessions.
  4. Generate the schedule — partners are balanced and sit-outs rotate automatically, so nobody sits twice before everyone sits once.
  5. Record scores — enter each game's score and the standings update live, tiebreakers included.

Fixed partners vs. switch partners

Fixed partners is the competitive format: you and your partner stay together and your pair plays every other pair round-robin style. Switch partners (the mixer) gives you a new partner every round, so you play with — and against — as many different people as possible. Mixers are the default for social open play because they balance themselves: strong players lift weaker ones from round to round instead of stacking one dominant team.

Scoring and tiebreakers

Record each game to 11 (win by 2, as usual). The standings rank by wins first, then point differential. That means every point matters — running up the score in a game you're already winning still helps your tiebreaker.

Round robin FAQs

How does a pickleball round robin work?

Every player or team plays a set number of rounds against different opponents, and the best record wins. It's the most popular social format because everyone gets equal court time regardless of skill.

How many players do you need?

At least 4. This generator handles 4 to 30. With an odd number, one player rotates out each round.

Fixed or switch partners?

Fixed partners for competitive play, switch partners for social mixers. The generator above does both.

How is the winner determined?

Wins first, then point differential, then total points scored. Applied automatically in the standings above.

Can I share or print the schedule?

Yes. Hit Share link to send the whole tournament — schedule, scores, and standings — to your group as one link. Hit Print schedule for a clean sheet with the Pickle Picker header, ready for the fence or the fridge. Both free, no account. Last-place finisher gets the official ruling: "I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

We only have 2 courts for 14 players. Does this handle that?

Yes. Set Courts available to 2 and the generator runs two matches at a time, rotating everyone else in and out so court time and rest stay fair across the whole session.
