Paddle thickness

Core thickness in millimeters. 14mm vs 16mm is the biggest fork in the road when buying a paddle.

Thinner cores (12.7–14mm) play livelier: more pop, faster feel, more power per swing. But less stability and a smaller margin for error. Thicker cores (16mm+) absorb pace, soften the feel, and steady the face. That is control players' territory.

One more buying wrinkle: thickness can change the price. The Perseus Pro V is $279.95 at 14mm and $299.99 at 16mm. Same model name, $20 apart.
