Static weight

What the paddle weighs on a scale, in ounces. Useful, but only half the story.

Most performance paddles land between 7.3 and 8.5 oz. Static weight matters. Light is easier to maneuver, heavy hits harder — but it says nothing about where the weight lives. An 8.0 oz head-heavy paddle and an 8.0 oz handle-balanced paddle are different animals.

Always read static weight alongside swing weight and balance point. The three together describe how that mass actually behaves.
