CRBN 3X Power Review

Consensus score
CRBN renamed this paddle the CRBN³ X in 2025 and changed nothing else, which tells you everything about how confident they are in it. The 3X Power is the spin monster of the sub-$150 class: Pickleheads gave it 10/10 on spin, lab rigs measured over 2,000 RPM, and CRBN now sells it direct for $149.99. It used to cost $230. The paddle didn't get worse. The price just gave up.

The consensus verdict
Best for
Aggressive all-court players who want heavy topspin with a forgiving face. If you're coming from a control paddle and want real serve and drive power without a pop cannon, this is the bridge.
Not for
Beginners still learning touch. Reviewers are consistent: it's poppy at the kitchen until you learn to manage it, and it will embarrass you while you learn.
Consensus 89/100 · Excellent
Weighted from Pickleheads dimension scores (power 9, control 8, spin 10, forgiveness 9), JustPaddles lab data (1,314 RPM spin, 86th-percentile consistency), The Pickleball Blast's measured 2,043 RPM, and 5-star owner ratings. Docked for the poppy kitchen manners and an aging spot in CRBN's own lineup.

What reviewers agree on
Strengths
- Elite spin from the raw T700 face. Pickleheads rates spin 10/10, calling it their favorite spin paddle in the class. Balls dip in when opponents thought they were out. Lab rigs back it up: 1,300 to 2,000+ RPM.
- Big, forgiving sweet spot. Foam-injected edges do real work: 9/10 forgiveness, 86th-percentile lab consistency, and a noticeably larger sweet spot than the elongated 1X.
- Real power, managed. 9/10 power from Pickleheads. Confident on serves and third-shot drives without being unhinged. Reviewers frame it as the paddle you graduate to from control.
- Direct, honest feedback. Stiff, solid, slightly muted feel with very direct shot feedback. You always know exactly what you did, which is more useful than it sounds.
- The price. $149.99 direct with a free cover, down from $230. One of the best value propositions in the entire $100–$200 tier.
Weaknesses & caveats
- Poppy at the kitchen. Control 8/10. It pops balls up until you learn to manage the face, and every reviewer warns beginners off for exactly this reason.
- The 16mm's power is mid-pack now. Lab exit velocity sits at the 38th percentile. It's a spin paddle that happens to have power, not the other way around. Pure power chasers should keep looking.
- Short handle for two-handers. 5.25 inches versus the 1X's 5.5. Two-handed backhand players consistently wish for more room.
- Lineup confusion. The 2025 rename plus CRBN's newer TruFoam lines means buyers mix it up with other models. Verify it's the 3X (not 1X, 2X, or TruFoam) before buying, especially used.

Pro usage
No verified pro currently plays the 3X specifically. Thomas Wilson's name shows up in CRBN's orbit, but he plays the TruFoam Genesis now. This one wins on reviewer consensus, not endorsements. Pro tracker →

CRBN 3X Power FAQs
3X vs CRBN³ X?
Same paddle. CRBN renamed the Power Series to the X Series in 2025. Don't confuse it with the TruFoam lines.
14mm or 16mm?
14mm for power and pop. 16mm for control, softer kitchen feel, and better forgiveness. The 16mm spins faster in lab testing.
Tournament legal?
Yes, USAP approved. The 2022 delisting hit older CRBN models, not the 3X.
